The Donald Newell Sr. Memorial Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior was established by Donald Newell, II in honor of his dad, one of the founders of WVSOM. In the 1970’s, Donald Newell Sr. along with a small group of osteopathic physicians purchased the Greenbrier Military School property and started the Greenbrier College of Osteopathic Medicine. This award is presented to a graduating student who, in the opinion of their classmates, best exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, osteopathic professional interest, leadership and citizenship.
