23 OMS I and OMS II students of the WVSOM DOCARE Chapter will be traveling to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico from June 2-9, 2020 to treat the medically underserved population. Our goal as a DOCARE Chapter is to continue to build lasting relationships with the Mayan villages. We will be providing competent, appropriate medical care to an extremely underserved, impoverished population. Much needed medications and supplies will be provided from the funds we raise. Last year we served over 1300 patients in just 4 days! We also will be facilitating educational opportunities for the community which allows students and physicians to experience different cultures and global health issues. We are ultimately hoping to establish a permanent relationship between WVSOM DOCARE and the Mexican people.
